Plant Therapy Giveaway and how I use essential oils

So as I promised (though not as quick as I had intended)  I am going to give away some essential oils that I use often in my home.  I know you’ll be just as pleased as I am using them in yours.

So what can you use essential oils for?  Well, a lot of things I am just going to give a few examples here as to what I do.  And then down the post a bit I am going to give you “recipes” in hopes that you will be able to use essential oils to your benefit in your home.  I use lavender, orange, or lemon essential oils to sent my dryer balls (a later post in detail about these).  I use thieves oil in a variety of homemade  cleaners that I make.  I use peppermint, ylang ylang, tea tree, lavender or orange oils in the “shampoo” and “conditioner” I use.  I frequently use thieves oil and coconut oil as my “toothpaste”.  I’ve used the immune blend in castile soap to make a natural antibacterial hand soap.  Isabella made lip balm for Christmas gifts using peppermint or lemon oil to flavor it.  I’ve used lemon, rosemary, and lavender to make deodorant.   These are just a few of the uses that I have come up with and will share with you in using essential oils in your home.

To use oils to scent your dryer balls I take and either drop 10-15 drops on the ball and then put in a ziplock bag and let sit for 24 hrs or I take a dropper and “poke-stuff” it into the middle of the ball (it lasts longer this way) and put the oil there.

I like very simple cleaners that I know what is in them so a lot of the time I just use vinegar and water and add thieves or another oil to it since my husband HATES the smell of vinegar 🙂  I’ve also found a cleaner that I buy from Green Virgin (in a co-op buy in case any one is interested we can get it much cheaper than price on the site) it’s totally non toxic but doesn’t have a “smell”  so I add essential oils to it usually it thieves to help fight germies 🙂

The “shampoo” and “conditioner” are very basic.  It’s not really shampoo or conditioner as one would think.  I use  1 part baking soda with 3 parts water with added oil 10-15 drops of your choice I like peppermint into the mixture and shampoo your hair.   Mix 1 part white or apple cider vinegar with 4 parts water. To minimize the vinegar smell, I also add lavender, peppermint, and/or rosemary to the vinegar mixture again 10-15 drops. I like to mix a big batch of this ahead of time and keep it in a squeeze bottle in the shower.  I keep a bottle of the “conditioner” mixed up as well to use on the girls hair as a detangler.

To use thieves as a toothpaste I simply put a small bit of coconut oil and a drop of oil and brush away.  (yes it burns a bit but my mouth feels so good)

To make the hand soap you just use castile soap and oil of your choice mix it up and place in dispenser it’s as simple as that 🙂

And there are plenty of lip balm and deo recipes out there for you to find that I won’t blog about “my recipe” because I just used the ones I found. If you are interested I’ll be glad to share them but I think that Plant Therapy  has some recipes listed on their facebook page.

Please remember this is not medical advice or any other advice.  Please prayerfully consider the use of these oils and anything else that you use in your home.  This is what I have found works for MY family and I pray that you will find my suggestions helpful.
